Want to taste the best espresso in Rome, find the oldest literary cafe in town, or just go for a coffee where celebrities have their espresso or aperitif ? Here is the list of our favorite cafés of Rome.
Caffè Greco
Via Condotti 86
Tel: +39-06-678.25.54

Located in one of the most exclusive shopping streets of Rome, Via Condotti, this literary cafè is one of the oldest in Rome. Looking a little dusty and worn out, the place is not really our favorite, but definitely worth a visit because of the history. Walk inside, have a look around and have a coffee or cappuccino at the counter, because the high upcharge you will pay for a caffé seduto (sitting at a table) is not really worth it.

Caffè S. Eustachio
Piazza S. Eustachio 82
Tel: +39-06-686.13.09

Top 5 Most Famous Cafes of Rome
(The oldest, best and most elegant caffès of Rome)
Despite its discrete facade and location (just off Piazza della Rotonda where the Pantheon is), this is THE espresso institution in Rome (recognizable by the people queuing outside). Actually, there are two cafes bearing more or less the same name; choose the most crowded and less "glittering" one of the two. This cafe undoubtedly serves one of the best espressos in town.
Caffè della Pace
Piazza delle Pace 4
Tel: +39-06-686.12.16

Located in a beautiful small square just off Piazza Navona, this cafe is known for its show business clientele.

Caffè Doney
Via V. Veneto 145
Tel: +39-06-482.17.90

An elegant cafe with a piano bar and an air of nostalgia.

Caffè Rosati
Piazza del Popolo 5A, Rome
Tel: +39-06-322.58.59
open daily from 7:30am to 11:30pm

Located on the famous Piazza del Popolo, this cafe founded in 1923 attracts an elegant, heterogeneous clientele. Becomes more interesting at night. More renowned for the tramezzini and sandwiches - which are a delight to both the eye and the palate - than for the quality of its cappuccino.

Antico Caffé Greco, Via Condotti, Rome
(near the Spanish Steps)
Try the "gran caffè speciale" or a simple espresso. Espresso is served sweetened (except if you sit outside), so if you prefer your coffee without sugar you should inform the waiter.
